Valentine’s Day may be a holiday for lovers, but when I was growing up my parents always gave us tokens of love. I think this is a sweet tradition (and not only because I usually got chocolate of some kind.)
You will find many red, white, and pink things covered in hearts and saccharine sentiments. Things too tacky to be kitsch. In lieu of those things I have decided to focus on the color red as the source of my inspiration for these Valentine gifts. My dad used to get one of these boxes of chocolates each year for my sisters and I. For that reason they are very special to me, and I could not leave it out of this post.
